Profile

Three decades dedicated to cancer surgery

Dr. Vinod T. Gore is among the most experienced surgical oncologists in Pune, with a career spanning more than 30 years and over 11,000 cancer operations. After completing his MBBS and MS in General Surgery at the University of Pune — ranking second in the university in both — he undertook five years of dedicated training in surgical oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India’s premier cancer centre, followed by three years of reconstructive and plastic surgery training at Sassoon General Hospital.

In 2009 he established and now leads the Department of Surgical Oncology at Sahyadri Manipal Hospital, Pune. His clinical practice spans the full breadth of cancer surgery, with particular expertise in colorectal and gastrointestinal malignancies, robotic surgery, and organ- and function-preserving techniques such as sphincter preservation for rectal cancer.

A pioneer of robotic and innovative surgery, Dr. Gore holds the FARIS fellowship from the University of Edinburgh and serves as a robotic surgery training mentor. In 2013 he performed Asia’s first electrochemotherapy procedure and introduced India’s first indigenous electrochemotherapy machine. He remains an active teacher, researcher, and public-health advocate.
